~~~ countries, even right off our shore, wish they had home delivery and not have to go to their posfoffice box or distribution center to pick up their mail... even as close as the Bahamas, there is no mail delivery, especially packages and larger cartons.
When Florida had the daily crossings from Dade, Broward and Palm Beacn, the residents who needed constant supplies for their small business had to transport via those ships with special rates in cargo when they were on board.
I used to see the same girls every weekend who had small shops at home on GBI (hairdressers) who had to come over and pick up supplies where a few of them used to cut hair on board in order to help pay expenses. Some of us used to know exactly where their staging areas were and drop off surpluss sacks of cloths from thrift shops here in town... and if the timing was right, three-day-old bread in bulk from a some supermarkets.... ...
