stop this stupid bickering.
First, let’s recognize how hard it is to run a club. Let’s thank those that are serving currently and before them. They deserve our respect and admiration. My God it is a challenging task, but this is become a circus and very childish, and if it was accomplishing anything but destruction!
Doug Smiths analysis was spot on!
We do think the club has shortcomings and could use some fresh ideas. That’s why we believe new blood could help with some of these challenges and that’s why we support more ideas and adding or voting in a few new people because the club could use the assistance to make it stronger! Also, five people having control over everything in our opinion is to centralized in power.
Our hope is for everybody to take a deep breath and think about the damage that is being done currently to the club and our membership. The club leaders should recognize that the direction is not good and hopefully figure out how to improve that situation. We think there’s been way too much drama as nothing is critical but we shouldn’t wait to long because the hope is to do better and not continue losing members as they will go somewhere else. Our hope is many of the key people with voices can work something out behind the scenes through texting or emailing, or calling one another on all sides to figure out ways to improve the club and resolve their differences.
I think David has a lot on his plate. I respect David a lot. I think he has done an incredible job and is currently doing a job of three people, but he lives out of the states and is limited. Plus there appears to be a unification problem. He and the board could use some help. I hope they see this. There is help out there willing, smart, bright, young, internet computer technically savvy minds with modern ideas who want to help.
Guys it’s time to make peace or this situation as this negativity and lack of success may drive many of us away! The members want this to stop and for everyone to try and come together. Sometimes you have to give a little to get something back in return. Figure it out and resolve your differences. This name calling and berating one another has to stop. Even if you have a great point and someone has wronged you in your opinion you will never accomplish anything if you attack someone with hateful language. Make people feel welcomed and be civil and respectful and come together for the sake of what’s right and to strengthen the club and grow the membership. Make it fun again and bring smiles to collector’s faces. It can be done if everyone is on the same page and has the same goals and vision. That would be the sign of great leadership!
Just one of our ideas is use a small of part of that $1 million that was donated to the club in assets (Thank you for your contribution)to grow the membership and build the community. Run promotions and do giveaways and contests to those that contribute and want to join and participate in the club and the hobby. Make the hobby fun and chip collecting exciting! And when you do sell something at the table or on eBay or a trade show with the donated chips, put 10% away for the MOGH or for your nest mission or project. I am with Doug and Ed and many others who do not want to see that dream go away, even if it’s virtual, hopefully it will be a physical location, because if you spend the money wisely, then you will garner more support and probably see many more donations.
This is it for now. We generally do not voice our opinion on the chip board as we just like to view it to see what’s going on but felt we should put our two cents in now. We were just sit back and see how everything plays out and we are wishing the entire Chipping community all the best, and nothing but success and good fun and your journey. Let’s pray for peace and civility.
Cheers 🍻
