I know everyone prefers not to discuss club issues on this site however I feel compelled. If this bothers you please stop reading now. Yesterday I asked a question on the club message board and it was directed to any board member. It has been about thirty hours and no response as of yet. The question was very simple. “What is the vision for the club going forward and how do you plan on accomplishing whatever that vision is”. This club was formed for one reason, to unite other collectors so they may share their thoughts and possibly trade or sell to each other. The non-profit aspect was to educate the public and hopefully attract them to our club so they too could enjoy this wonderful hobby. Archie Black formed this great organization over thirty years ago and it probably surpassed his expectations in terms of growth. I have been collecting for over fifty years and have been associated with this club for about thirty years. I have met wonderful people through the club and have even taken vacations with some. Sadly for many reasons our club is shrinking and conversely the hobby is growing. Our current leadership seems to be stuck and satisfied with the status quo. We have many members in our hobby who have offered fresh ideas and possess the skills to make them happen. For whatever reason our current leadership does not embrace them. Everything changes with time and our club is no exception and if we don’t change we will cease to exist. I love this club and I love this hobby, I hate to see it go by the wayside simply because we weren’t willing to adapt. At the most recent show everyone noticed many new faces. The bulk of these new faces were a by product of Thunder Snow’s marketing effort. He was a first time dealer, yet he promoted the club, show and even other dealers daily through his highly watched YouTube videos. His thanks was being told that he is not wanted back. I am outraged by this! If anyone noticed he had lines at his table and was truly the star of the show. Many of those new faces were Thunder Snow’s customers from their highly successful eBay business. The point is if we don’t embrace these new young members along with their progressive ideas they will simply leave like so many in the past. This club has missed many opportunities in the past, we can not afford to miss anymore. I understand everyone wants to just have fun and pretend all is well but if we continue on this path the club will be no more. Many of you don’t know me but I can qualify my sincerity factually, over the years I have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to our club/members indirectly in the form of free admissions to the four museums I founded not to mention unlimited promotion. Most recently I donated (My cost over $10,000) a truckload of acrylic display stands and easels to the club. I also donated (My cost over $50,000) over five hundred museum quality framed items to the SNCCC. I am not sharing this with you because I want a thank you, I share it in hopes that this will be taken seriously. I encourage all of you to start asking questions. Let’s save this club!
