A hoard is a quantity that has a significant effect on the price. There is no set quantity. If a chip is considered rare, say less than 10 known, then a find of just 5 chips will greatly effect price. On the other hand, if chip is common, 1,000's are known to exist, than a new find of 100 chips will not have a significant effect on the price.A suggestion ... if you want to see hoard quantities on the ChipGuide, then someone has to supply the information to the ChipGuide. Include a picture or other information for verification purposes.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
On point (1) that’s completely subject to personal interpretation and information manipulation. We might disagree on how rarity affects popularity and what threshold of quantity affects a chip’s value. Please take this as constructive criticism but what you’re describing is not a very robust thought process.
On point (2) well yeah absolutely, but it’s not really a new suggestion. I’m sure the collectors who have taken the time to provide that information used a reliable source (like a unaltered picture maybe) and that the admins who have reviewed it have seen the « evidence ». But if that work has been done already, why not use the evidence to add a layer of information like « HOARD ALERT: over X chips known to be in circulation »
And then collectors can decide if and how that information affects the way they give a certain value to a chip
