I agree Chipguide has a right to protect the images as used on their site. It was the assertion that they were creating a new copyright after editing that I disagreed with. They are simply protecting our images on their website from being used elsewhere. I'm ok with that
I also agree with you that CG should protect their assets, but not the way it's being done right now. Your suggestion of adding a watermark is excellent. Or if they continue to want the post the image unaltered maybe underneath the photo simply put "photo courtesy of So and So"
And yes the notion that it would cost the MOGH money for hosting multiple versions of the image is incorrect. Thank you for supplying that CCS template. I hope they incorporate it. I'd be happy with that too.
In your opinion, if a submitter is not happy with the way their image is being used can they ask for it to be removed? I am the original owner of the image and I signed nothing on the submission form. Thoughts?
