Some additional news on the project:
Las Vegas Sands has secured a lease of Nassau Coliseum property in Uniondale for the next 99 years, paving the way for a potential casino in Nassau County. The lease involves Sands paying $54m to the county within 60 days, $5m in annual rent and, during the first year of operations, $900,000 for public safety. The lease still needs approval from the Nassau planning commission, the rules and finance committees, and the county legislature, which meets on 22 May. The Nassau Hub development is expected to cost $1.5bn and involve offices, housing, retail, restaurants and entertainment.
