I find that a few sellers on e-bay will put "old" in the title of the item description on current chips. I think it's more of a sales gimmick to catch someone's eye. (I know it has caught my eye at times)

Then you open the page and see it's a current. I tend to associate "old" with obsolete, so that's why I open the page. So in my case I would consider it misleading.
