The chip is from the Cherokee Tribal Casino that was located in what is now the Cherokee Boy's Club. The chip was used for fun night at the fifth anniversary celebration and was never used for gambling. It is not related to Harrah's Cherokee. The old Tribal Casino closed when Harrah's Cherokee Smoky Mountain Casino opened in November 1997.

By agreement with the State of North Carolina, live gambling is not allowed on the reservation and all games must include an element of skill. That is why there are no "regular" slots in the casino. All of the slots are of the "Lock and Roll" design. These machines spin once, you select which reels to keep, and the remaining reels spin again. The skill is in selecting what to keep.

On my last trip I was told they will be installing "digital blackjack" sometime soon. As I understand it, the dealing is like the BJ Blitz (a screen for each player and the dealer) and a live dealer to handle the payouts. Perhaps shortly there will be chips from Harrah's Cherokee.
