when they were punching out the inlays, they probably didn't match up the alignment marks.
I suspect it's as simple as that. But after going through 25 of them, it's some of one kind and some of the other. So it's not just a matter of "oops, punched a few wrong", but a series of half of one kind and half the other.
Still too much nit picking for me to call it anything. It's been four years and no one has seen the new design on a $5 but the cage says they did reorder them. I don't know if that confirms a new logo version, that just hasn't come to the tables, or just that they did re-order chips.
I have to take in all my March Madness plays in a couple of weeks. I'll stand behind the tables again and watch.
ps Roulette chips are unchanged, and there's a blue chip in the rack that I suspect is a $500. I may need to buy one, take it for a walk, and then return it to the cage.
