Some "Watts Pots" I'll be restoring this Spring.

I began collecting these when I first came to Florida in 1972... where I would pick them up in in old neighborhoods for $3 to $5 each which grew into an exporting operation to Brasil, Argentina; Spain, France and Italy... and, since it was mostly a hobby I traded a lot for pots to add onto my collection of which, now, I have just under 100 of the 500-_600 I had through the years.

The history of the pot maker; John Watts, who came to Florida in 1911 is very interesting since he did most everything himself with a hook for one hand he lost to cancer and, when he passed away in about 1951, his children continues with the business in their backyard here in West Palm Beach. Today, the design of the pot is copied and they fetch some pretty high prices while the originals such as these seen below are not as easy to find these days as they were in the 70's to about 2005... and they were made with steel wire to prevent cracking and, with the exception of picking up one or two every couple years, since; I did go deep into Miami a couple years ago and during one weekend I picked up 9 pots which are part of this batch seen below. I no longer sell them since I lost contact with a couple folks in the shipping trade and even if they were still around it would be a bit rough for me to try doing what I did back then so, these, when finished will simply stay put unless a buyer takes it upon themself to do the here-to-there sfuff.

When completed and put into the landscaped, I'll update...

Biggest problem was the steel wire rust.
