Went into the Cordova Restaurant & Casino years ago (obviously, as it's now a Parkwest casino) - wanted to get some low-denomination $2, $3 or $1 chips. It was evening and a couple tables were just about empty. The dealer asked me if I was going to play and I said no, just wanted some souvenirs for my collection. "How about this one?" he asked, picking up a purple $500 beauty. "I'll bet nobody has one in their collection!" He was absolutely correct but I stammered, "That's a little too rich for my blood." And the dealer, and Pit Boss who was standing nearby, both broke out into laughter, having their best joke of the night. I have no doubt that if I had $500 cash on me, and the desire to buy it, they would have sold it to me. But maybe that's because a California card room operates under different rules than anything in Nevada. Guess I should have taken him up on the offer. The ChipGuide does not list a $500 Cordova chip and I'm guessing nobody does have on in their collection!
