The Landmark was actually built by a guy named Frank Carrol( real name, Frank Carriciolla). He was a Kansas City developer with questionable associates. He ran out of money, but would not have gotten a gaming license anyway. Originally the casino was going to be on the top floor. Gaming would not approve that. The express elevator was marked 'casino' on that floor and never changed. The bar on the top floor was beautiful, it was my hangout in those days. It was also a favorite of hundreds of hookers. Country singer Pam Tillis played the lounge downstairs for a long time before she became famous. Probably one of my favorite memories of the old days.
