Yes, that is likely the company. They sold more than firearms in the 1890s. The ad below from the New York Sun is from 6/6/1899. They had a lot of ads. None mention poker, cards, or gambling items, but poker chips were often sold in sporting goods stores in the early 1900s. I could see them wanting to shorten their name to take out "Arms" to better convey their full line of items for sale.
