Someone know a good copyrite attorney? It isn't my field, but here's a shot in the dark.
I'm not in favor of slabbing, or grading, or companies that slab becoming the ones who also grade and set prices. BUT
Since KMW has allowed free use of the TCR numbers for identification for many years, without restriction, to everyone, except the provision that credit be given, it would be a problem to change the rules after the fact.
I think it would be difficult, and possibly illegal to say "Everyone can use our numbers, for free, except if you are slabbing chips".
And to continue to be an asset to collectors, requiring the TCR number to give credit and be included on the slabbed chip, would be more of an aid to the suckers (aka collectors) who would consider buying such slabbed chips. In other words, accurate and known identification, instead of questionable confusing IDs.
Hey don't we have a bunch of lawyers as members? Maybe they can add an unbiased, more educated, personal opinion.
