Yeah... and though it does appear to be grime, it is a tar-like cement which held this MOP carving on some sort of surface such as a jewelry box or frame. Some shoppers have mentioned seeing MOP gambling plaques that had the black stuff on one side that were most likely peeled off of a display board that was in a shop a 100 years ago or a salesman's book. Just something to be aware of when seen in shops and that I buy gambling plaques that are found like that... and inexpensive.
I do take grime, too...
