as you likely know, the picture disc edition was released in 1978 at the height of the picture disc/color vinyl craze. Only a few of their albums got the special treatment at that time, but since then a few more have been added (particularly as 50th anniversary items, like the recent Let It Be pic disc). All the Beatles British singles were also released as picture discs; I think that was on the 20th or 25th anniversary of each original release. They make an attractive collection.
