Were those manufactured that way or are they the results of someone's playing around...?

I have seen metal tokens embedded in plastic casino plaques and, of course we know what has been done with clay composition chips buf, I have never noticed MOP embedded except in jewelry and inlaid veneer in wood, metal and so on.
