When you are auctioning off a casino chip, or anything, and you have a reserve, why not have the reserve amount as the opening bid amount? What purpose does it serve to have people bid on an item and possibly not meet the reserve and as a result not sell the item? Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance for any information.
