Some people have polished them with car polish and have had great results (including on lunettes that had gone white).
It's funny as the smaller plaques don't seem to suffer anywhere near as badly although different colours have different issues it seems.
The red £1 jetons shrink but all of the rest in the set are fine although they were all made slightly later so that probably helped.
