Not much is known but what's know of this Cercle in Paris is quit interesting.
The Cercle by the name of "Cercle du XIXe Siècle" translates as "the cercle of the 19th century".
Being in the year 1884 that's a correct name for the place.
The Cercle was open for a short timeperiod until the police closed it on the 7th of November.
Large amounts of cash were played at the bacarrat table(s).
What caught my eye is that the 20 FRF is also larger than normal chips (jetons) made in mother of pearl from this denomination.
Normally a 20 FRF from this timeperiod is around 33-34 mm, this one is 38 mm.
If anyone has other examples it would be nice to know because I would love to know if the other chips/plaques are larger also.
Jo from Belgium.
