If people are willing to write and submit histories, the Chip Guide should be a great place to store and display them. - Why should people with no experience in writing, or fact checking for that matter, be entrusted with writing the history of Las Vegas casinos for the MOGH? Shouldn't that be handled by the MOGH itself? Written by experts using all the resources the MOGH has and that I as a due paying member have contributed to?
I was responding more to your posts which responded that you won't do Charles' job for him - I won't. He's arguing the fact that we already have a museum and I beg to differ. I have spent hundreds of hours learning how to implement my idea of what a proper museum exhibit pertaining to a casino or card room might look like. Why would i just hand that over to Charles? Did you not read the whole photo submission mess?
"If you can't figure out how to do that then step aside and hire someone that can. Not a freaking paragraph on The Sands, the Flamingo and others after years and HUDNREDS [sic] OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS at your disposal." I took those comments as being critical of Charles Kaplan. This is the first time I've suggested he step aside and let someone else run the MOGH. This is a conclusion I came to today after learning that the Museum of Gaming History does not have a single original word written on one of the oldest and most historical casinos in Nevada. The Flamingo. For the record I never mentioned Charles in my post. He came into my thread arguing the fact we have a museum. We have a wonderul Chipguide. A tool created on the submissions of fellow collectors and maintained by the MOGH. We do not have a museum. Agiain in my opinion.
Also the way you way overstated what happened with Oscar. Do you have first hand knowledge of what transpired and have seen the texts? Not sure what you're basing your opinion on.
I do like your original post and love the idea about putting histories in where possible for the casinos on the chip guide. I hope it happens. - Me too.
