It may work but it's not quite as simple as that, and not something we could just go straight into.

The club doesn't have sufficient finances to take a punt on what may or may not work.

We are already contracted to 3 more conventions at South Point with a clear financial penalty should we choose to cancel.

There is a waiting list to take our week at South Point. If we gave it up for a year we may not get it back. Sure we could look elsewhere in Vegas but given we went through that exercise last year and the next lowest tender, Orleans, came in at over twice what we pay South Point.

There are considerable logistical issues in moving equipment and merchandise from Las Vegas for a full scale convention.

Possibly a smaller secondary show could be 'club sponsored', but how much will collectors and dealers bear? As much as any other brick and mortar business, the convention has in my mind suffered with the growth of the internet and the consequential fact that collectors don't have to attend a show to buy chips.

I'm happy to bring it up for discussion at the next meeting and even poll convention dealers and attendees but I'd be concerned that while it may well be cheaper, the reduction in attending dealers and visitors would make their costs astronomical. Right now the focus has to be on consolidating our current position and replacing important outgoing volunteers.
