Oscar, as I said before, I love your enthusiasm and I appreciate you stepping up in trying to help the club.
As I also said before, I really (REALLY) wish this wasn't a campaign for President, but for another position, or even some new position like "Director of Social Media & Outreach". Like many members, I too am concerned about the dwindling membership, but I am also concerned about the fundamental business of the club going forward.
I think it is important that the people making the decisions have some business experience because I believe we are getting close to out-spending our current situation. The Board is going to have to start looking at a long-term budget and put some action plans together to get there. We CANNOT sustain ourselves with the economics of the club right now.
So maybe a couple questions that might help people like me. These questions might sound like I have an agenda but believe me I don't. I will ask this of all candidates. I legitimately think they are important to know.
- What experience (or education) do you have concerning business or budgets?
- Do you have any experience with contracts? (I assume there will need to be work done for future convention space).
- You mentioned time constraints with school and work. How much time can you dedicate to being the face of the club? I assume, but maybe past presidents can answer, it takes a lot of time to run the club.
Again, I'm hoping this isn't interpreted by you or other members as me being anything but concerned for our club. I think you are an asset to the club and we definitely need your enthusiasm. I just really wish it wasn't for President.
