I think you are trying to cloud the issue here.
The type of machine used has no bearing on the defenition of a silver strike or anything else for that matter.
I believe the original argument consisted of one persons opinion as to why he did NOT consider the "coin" issued to be a strike.
It appeared to me that the reason was, he couldn't get one.
