The Jan. 13, 1968 headline in the Lodi News-Sentinel told the sad story. 70-year-old "Ma" Quinn, a well-respected and kind-hearted Sacramento Street tavern owner known to give food to the needy, was brutally murdered during a robbery of doubtful gain. The tavern's safe was untouched, but the murderers managed to cut off Quinn's finger to steal her large diamond ring. 😧
