In the case of a vacancy in the Presidency, the Club Constitution controls. It specifically says where, as here, the vacancy occurs in the first year of a term, there is a special election to fill the vacancy. If, however, it occurs in the second year, the Board appoints someone to fill the vacancy. That must have been what happened when you became VP. Or, they didn't read the Constitution. I'm sure Eric Rosenblum knew what the CC>CC Constitution said.
