I need to check the forum more often. Yes, if it was closed by the 1940s, the chips could not have been used there.
I've looked around and it is hard to find dates for the hotel. Not even listed in the old Sacramento directories in the Library of Congress online collection I looked at.
In the newspaper databases I use, it is mostly mentioned before 1940. It was mentioned in this 1992 obituary as long closed.
I have updated that listing to reflect that contradiction in relation to the Gaming Table entry. It should be visible tomorrow.
As I upload T. R. King cards and Burt ledger entries, it is evident that some IDs in the Gaming Table and Staeffler's California guide are very likely wrong. I usually keep a reference to that older identification, but point out that it may be wrong. Otherwise I will likely get an email to update the listing with information from Staeffler or the Gaming Table. I don't know if that is the best solution.
