The Royal Nevada, Riviera, and Dunes all opened between April 15th and May 23rd, 1955
which turned out to be a slack season for tourists. Financial difficulties and poor crowds
caused it to close on January 4, 1956. Employees who had not been paid stormed the cage
and grabbed handfuls of cash and $25 chips. I'm surprised they had so many varieties of
ashtrays.
