Maybe 20 years ago they announced the end of passenger service from LA to Vegas. I thought it might be a kick to arrive by train as that was the way the city began. But there was just one train a day and the times were terrible. I remember it left Vegas at 5:30 AM. So it didn't happen.
This project has never made sense to me. It was about 4.5 hours driving time from my home in Orange County to my hotel in Vegas including a quick lunch in Barstow. And you had your car in town. It's faster door to door than flying. And much cheaper if it's three or four people. So with the new train I would have to leave my house at a set time so as to not to miss my train then pay a parking fee that could be substantial if I'm staying a week or more. Then I need to get from the Vegas station to my hotel. It sure doesn't sound any faster. Then cabs to get around.
But what do I know about transportation infrastructure? Not much. pay a parking fee that
