Having lived in the civilized part of our country for most of my life I can still understand how that can happen. Dogs are fast and kids are not quite as fast. What I don't understand is that here in Hillbilly Heaven no one leaves their dogs in the house, fenced in or chained up. They run all over the place continously and, of course, most of them end up under cars with deadly results. If I had kids and a dog, I sure would not want the kids finding their dog on the road dead! I am glad your story had a happy ending.
