This year's G2E show was interesting as always. But it was much smaller in scale then in previous years. The crowd was also much smaller. I only spent 3 hours total at the show. The major slot manufactures were well represented. The machines are all becoming more elaborate, more colorful, and much taller. As far as the major chip manufacturers not so well represented. The big guys Angel Gaming ( GPI ) had a very reduced presence. No new G2E yearly chip. No new products to display. None of the beautiful plaques and jetons like in the past. In fact I was told they have ceased production of their beautiful Chinese New Year Plaque series. Very disappointing to see their lack of a real product display. Another major manufacturer Abbiati was a no show. CHIPCO did have a small exhibit. They are making some nice ceramic chips again. Their huge 63mm chip was very interesting. My friends at MATSUI had a very nice exhibit, with a nice group of quality plaques and sample chips. Here is a scan of some of the most interesting sample plaques and chips I picked up at the show for my personal collection.
