The monthly, 2nd Tuesday meeting of the SNCCC was held last evening at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino. There were 34 members and guests in attendance and we had a wonderful meeting.
Our Guest Speaker was Ann Sipl Meyers. While Ann was the Guest Speaker at last month's meeting, she was asked to return and sell more of her books (and speak). Ann is a past owner of the Nevada Hotel and Casino, and, the Queen of Hearts Hotel, Downtown Las Vegas. Ann talked about her experience with Nevada Gaming Control, Jackie Gaughan, Benny Binion and Barrick Gaming, which bought the 2 properties from her for 7 million dollars, or so!
Two of the guest attendees became members, which include Ann and Jaydon Ogden's mother. Our Membership Officer, Pam Focazio, gave recognition to Jaydon and his wife, Evy, for their volunteering to staff the SNCCC Recruitment Table at the Casino Collectibles Association's Convention in June. Pam had previously recognized James Lines, Vicki Gaudette and Alan King for their assistance in staffing the Table as well. Through their efforts and that of Pam, 39 new recruits were signed up during the Convention.
As is our regular practice, we conducted an Early Bird Auction at 6:45 pm, which included 20 Lots of gaming chips and an add on Lot of an 8” stack of used, 30-pocket binder sheets, which were donated to the SNCCC by Mikko Melander of Spinettis Gaming Supplies, a strong supporter of the SNCCC. Thank you Mikko.
Prices realized for the 21 Lots are included with this Report. We received several Proxy Bids, one of which was successful. Proxy Bidding works, and details to do so are included in the Monthly SNCCC Invitation that goes out via email and postings on TheChipBoard and Facebook. The SNCCC Business Meeting was Called to Order at 8:00 pm, by Vice President Rick Lonski and Closed just 11 minutes later. During this time the Minutes of the Juy Meeting were read by the Club's Secretary (Jim Follis), the Club's Treasurer, Terri Lonski provided the Club's financial status, and the Membership Officer presented our membership count at 232.
This was followed a brief recap of Old Business and New Business, which included an advisement that heightened COVID threat has put on-hold when the next “refreshments will be available” meeting. At 8:11 the Business Meeting was adjourned and we conducted our regular raffle, which included a 50/50 cash prize award for the 1st number drawn. About 15 bundles of prizes were raffled off, all of which are from donated items to the SNCCC by members.
Lastly, we had about 5 sellers of casino memorabilia, which are provided with a table on a first come, first served basis. We thank Tree Shields for staffing the Sign-In table, handing out name badges and Auction numbers. Thanks Tree!
