On Saturday June 12th I went to Virginia City, Nefada for the first time in many, many years. This is always a neat town to visit with lots of history and sites to see. I ran into about a hour delay on my way to Virginia City as there was a motorcycle accident on the road up to Virginia City. They had to airlift the victim out by helicopter. After the delay, I arrived in Virginia City and found a parking place on the street above the main street and I walked down the hill toward the center of town. I walked up and down the old wooden sidewalks and ended up going to the famous Bucket of Blood Saloon.
The first time I visited the B of B was back in August of 1993. I had only been collecting chips for about a year at that time. When I went to the Saloon/Casino the table games were gone but I asked the manager if they had any of the old chips laying around anywhere. He went to a desk in the back of the Saloon and pulled out a handful of $1 and $5 chips and also some $1 tokens - I was totally surprised !! I bought all the chips he had at face value around 15 or 20 chips.
I came back home and put the chips up for sale in the 1993 Fall issue the CCGTCC quarterly magazine. Notice the original old style "R.I.C.H." logo.
I sold all the chips - I sure wish I had keep them as they now sell for a lot more !!
When I left the B of B this time, I didn't have any neat chips in my pocket but I did picked up a Beer Menu which will find a place in my Chip Museum.
Take care,
