The problem with electric vehicles is just that. In states that experience high heat, electricity becomes a premium (air conditioning, etc. draws a ton of power). Many states adjust prices based on demand, so electricity becomes expensive.

It would be as if gas went to $7 a gallon, would you wait in line to get free gas?

In places like this, I think a hybrid is a better choice.
