Welcome to day 3, today I’m featuring a flat cap style souvenir hat for The America’s Cup Poker Championships which in 1984 was held at Vegas World. This was the 2nd annual championship and my research shows the winner was legendary Poker Ace Stu “the kid” Ungar. Ungar was known for his arrogance, after all it ain’t bragging if it’s true, but he could back up that arrogance with amazing skills of memory and was as adept counting cards in Blackjack as he was at Poker.
Sadly Ungar had a vicious drug problem and it helped usher in an early trip to the grave. He died of heart failure, attributed to years of drug abuse, at the young age of 45.
