CSULB, Chips Showed Up at Long Beach (again!) -

A few pleasant surprises, the crowd was lighter than usual - most people may have been away at campgrounds learning what poison oak looks like. Oh, they'll find out! Parking spaces near the swap meet entrance, although I parked in the first empty spot I found which turned out to be some distance from the ticket booth. The day was overcast which was a blessing from the usually too-hot temperatures down there. Not a lot of chips/tokens spotted at first but after some long walks up and down the aisles, I think I made out pretty well.

Spent most of the morning wondering, should I buy the expensive Chumash Casino numbered $5 token? It was the most I ever paid for a slot token but I liked the idea that it looked mint, in an airtite. Not certain if it was meant for use in a slot machine - I mean, looks more like a giveaway for the grand opening or some special event, or given to a high-roller? Well, I finally decided - you know, if you see a chip or a token you don't have . . . you might as well buy it, you'll probably never see another!

I even met a vendor of bricks who knew most of the brick collectors that I knew (alas, several of them have passed away in recent years - see, chip collectors aren't the only ones with that issue.) And he actually sold most of his bricks!
