Mahalo very much for your CB posts.
On my Hawaii Island State:
Tourism is our main revenue.
Hawaii taxes the Heck out of 'm.
From the airport planes landing taxes to the hotel resort rooms taxes.
To the Waikiki Beach super rooms charges to the expensive meals at the restaurants.
Locals rarely visit Waikiki. The car parking is too expensive.
When I would fly back to HNL from Las Vegas on the plane, I would chat with first time to Hawaii tourists.
I'd tell them about restaurants us locals dine in.
Like: Rainbows Drive inn, Zippy's, Gracie's, Karen's Kitchen, Roy's, Happy Day Chinese restaurant, Ray's Cafe,
Liliha restaurant all three locations.
I tell them about taking the all day dinner/show at the Polynesian cultural Center, owned and student run by the Mormons,
Book it threw their hotel, and take the PCC big bus, don't drive, too far.
Visit the Arizona Memorial by Pearl Harbor. If you are an ELK, at the life shop 10% dis.
There tickets are FREE.
Car rentals are so $$$$ high now. Take an uBer or the BUS.
When it's time to buy souvenirs, Ala Moana Shopping Center, buy from LONGS CVS or Costco.
or Sam.
Don't feel sorry about not eating in the Waikiki Resorts. All the employees are union.
Remember during this awful deadly CV pandemic, there is a rise in crime. Road rage, purse snatchings, Asian Senior assaults and on and on.
Just like in every city and town.
Be safe and wear your clean face Mask.
I have not been back to the mainland since this CV has started!
At a ripe Ole Old Fart Grumpy Senior Age of 70....catching CV would be so stressful, because having to call 911, taking the ambulance to the ER.
Not having my Wife with me, no visitors allowed and the painful death. Alone.
Happily...CC and I have gotten both our Pfizer jabs and it's been over 2 week.
To all my fellow Chipp'n Chipper Friends.....Be Safe.
Okole Ma Luna,
Quintin Kamm
