I can't speak for the Hacienda ad...your guess is as good as mine!

As for the hand lettering...we have a few issues of this particular publication. It's pretty corny and includes a lot of little blurbs like "Sad to say that Bobby from the Golden Nugget had to travel home for his father's funeral"...stuff like that. I have the impression that it was kind of a "one man operation" and if the advertiser didn't send in camera ready artwork, he just wrote in whatever it needed.

I kind of got the feeling that he might have had a little tipple when he was working on this issue....
