Re: Aviation Club de France Casino History!

We have a good friends who used to travel to France often. One of their favorite
places for lunch was the Aviation Club since they had a membership.
They are going to dig out the many pictures they took inside - I will post them
when I get them. Here is a little bit of history of the club from my friends .....

** Aviation Club de France **
French authorities shut down the club on September 16, 2014.

The Cercles de Jeux were private clubs , where they are only allowed card games
and multicolore, a mix of roulette and billiards, exclusive to these establishments
or private clubs.

To operate club gambling, it required a special permit from the government, which
needed to be renewed usually every 2 years. The type of gambling was controlled
by government. Any breach of the law resulted in the termination or non-renewal of
the license, and the club being shut down.

The Aviation Club de France in Paris was the number one gambling club in Paris
during it's time. In 1907, when it was founded in, the Aviation Club de France was a
private and very exclusive venue, dedicated to basically to aviators. The club began
to welcome more new members, and had become the place to gamble since the early
1960s.

The ACF, as members liked to call it, was located on the Champs Elysées, next to the
Arc de Triomphe. Members would go everyday, 24/7 to enjoy its gambling tables like
Poker 21 (Black Jack Parisian Style), Punto Banco, Baccarat, Three Card Poker, and
Caribbean Stud.

It was shut down administratively by French Justice Department on Sept. 16, 2014
for it's violation of the gaming laws.
