The cars auctioned at Mecum Auctions on TV often have reserves. Others too, like the fancy ones at Pebble Beach, etc.

In those, the seller is sometimes there and will remove the reserve when bidding stalls ... after occasional negotiating on auction house commission.

Of course, the CCA uses reserves too, on occasion, on the higher value items.

Reserves have their place, but can be overused too. JMHO.
