Stay at least one night at Circus Circus. It's not that fancy but it's fun. Don't go wandering the streets of Reno at night with them but if you stay there you can walk from Circus Circus through the Silver Legacy and the Eldorado without even leaving the interior the buildings. All three properties are connected and there are lots of food options throughout the complex. It's called The Row...

Just south of Reno in Carson City is the Nevada State Railroad Museum. It's very cool.

If you have time also go to Lake Tahoe, it's beautiful and if you go to South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly has a Gondola that goes up the mountain and has awesome views of the lake. For two little ones the the Gondola ride would be pretty exciting and it really gives you a great perspective of Lake Tahoe.
