Another big lake, another lot of casinos:

Stresa
in 1937 there was a joint venture between 3 municipalities, Stresa, Baveno and Verbania to open a casino named "Casa da Gioco del Centro Lago". The location was chosen to be in the halls of Grand Hotel Majestic Pallanza and Grand Hotel Regina Stresa, but something went wrong and the project failed. After WWII Stresa had finally a Casino Municipale with Pallanza, for few months.

Pallanza
The town of Pallanza was the hometown of mr. Bernardino Branca, the creator of "Fernet Branca" spirit. Mr Branca built Villa Giulia in 1847, Giulia was the name of the wife of son of Bernardino, Giuseppe. In 1932 the Villa was sold to municipality to open a Kursaal. in 1938 the casino opened.
