It’s supply and demand. Did you ever notice how packed those buses to the rent a car center are? Even at these rates. As I write this, I am sitting in a vehicle I rented at the Vegas airport. A big, Dodge Journey with satellite radio, but over $400 a week until the Virgin Hotel opens. I’m sure that part of the problem is the consolidation of the rent a car business also. National now owns Alamo. Hertz owns Dollar and Thrifty. Avis owns somebody else. The one advantage we have in this business is that you can make a reservation with no money down, and then keep checking every day for a better rate, and then cancel the original booking. Many times I have found a better rate for the same size car, even with the same company.
