Re: E-Bay Descriptions(Ploys to increase Value)

Bob,

Most of us old time collectors of the Silver Premium Gaming tokens were really upset when the "BIMETALLIC" $10 tokens arrived on the market. Many of us were most upset at the marking of ".999 Fine Silver" on a piece of metal that contained NO SILVER. Trying to get Anchor to talk to us so far has been very fustrating. I originally talked to one person at Anchor years ago and even sent him the first two editions of my book and never heard from him after that.

Anchor had a machine at the show two years ago putting out their brass advertising tokens but none of us really got anywhere with anyone at Anchor to ask the tough questions. Janice was told that they would try to get her a listing of the tokens from OUTSIDE Nevada. I still don't believe she has received anything from them.

Unfortunately, the $10 BiMetallic tokens are now the mainstay of the Silver Premium Gaming token collectors right now, as most of the new collectors have never seen the $7 and $28 tokens. And few of the new collectors are even thinking about collecting the $20, $40 or $200 varieties.

Even now with the "REVISED" tokens coming out they are still confusing to the novice and non-collectors. They still think the token is a solid piece. I only wish that gaming would have made them use the words on the token as written in their response letter to me, which was:

After reviewing the information provided in your correspondence and conversations with Anchor Gaming, it is the decision of the Board that
effective immediately all denominations of Silver Strike token artwork and sample tokens submitted to the Board for approval by Anchor Gaming, bearing the ".999 Fine Silver" on a non-silver outer ring, must also include the inscription "Center Insert Only" or other words to that effect. Anchor Gaming was also advised that as tokens previously approved are reordered, the dies must be revised to comply with the Board's request.

So what Anchor did was just to move the inscription onto the Silver Metal Centers. I wish that they would have also added "Center Insert Only".

I have another message recently posted where the seller made the claim to me that the machine's at the New York New York stated that the tokens were 1 oz silver. I for one still doubt this. I still have not received a reply from anyone here on the BB in response to that note.

Too many sellers on E-Bay are making claims that they cannot substantiate. They make claims which they can show correlations to but these can also be misleading.

In my opinion this is what the seller of the NY NY token did here.

This token finally sold for $23.50... Not to much for its misleading description mainly since these tokens have been reissued with an "S" mint mark and this particular one is retired.
