Nevada officials on Wednesday said they will pardon an estimated 15,000 people in their state convicted of minor marijuana offenses.

Many served sentences in the past but none are incarcerated now, according to a governor’s spokeswoman.

“Today is a historic day for those who were convicted of what has long been considered a trivial crime, and is now legal under Nevada law,” Governor Steve Sisolak said in a statement after the Nevada State Board of Pardons Commissioners unanimously amended, then passed, Sisolak’s resolution for the move.

“Since the passage of Question 2 in 2016 and the decriminalization of possession for small amounts of marijuana, many Nevadans have had these minor offenses remain on their records, in some cases as a felony,” the governor said. “This resolution aims to correct that and fully restore any rights lost as a result of these convictions.”

The signs that started this are nice old artifacts though! grin
