and it takes me something like 8 hours to drive from Los Angeles up Routes 14 and 395 to reach Bishop. In fact, the last time I drove it, I had arranged for a hotel room in Bishop before continuing on to Reno the next day. That worked out OK but . . . it is a lot of effort to undertake. The Paiute Palace had just 4 card tables, and usually 2 or 3 of those were empty. Don't know how many chips they would be willing to sell to a collector. Maybe some weekend if I feel really adventurous, I'll give it a try. Oh, a warm weekend. It snows up there in the winter just like in Spain!
One glorious day I had gone in there, on the way to Reno, and played the "Pelican Pete" slot machine and hit a bonus round of locking reels. By the time my 8 or 12 spins were up, I was making $100 guaranteed on each spin. Think I ended up with a $900 payout and the tribe was bankrupted for months afterward.
