John, You have been mislead on the space/customer issue. They want you to think they are doing you a favor by hosting your convention. It is just the opposite, you are spending thousands of dollars in their casino, gambling, drinking, eating, and sleeping in their casino in June, which is a dead time of year for them. The first year you have your convention the bean counters compare the drop on all casino games with the previous year. They basically know if that convention added to the bottom line. Several years ago when Michael Gaughan asked me to get him our convention I was in tune with things like that and we were able to get good rates. Whoever negotiated this went in and laid down for them. Like everything else working with a casino requires a little expertise.
