When I view your message I do not see the chip. When I copy the url of the chip into my browser address line, I can see the chip. Then when I go back to your message, the chip is there.
I believe the isp will not send the image when it is referred to by a different page than one on your server. When one goes to view the image by itself, the isp sends it. That causes it to be stored in the browsers cache. When you go back to the message, the browser just retrieves it from the cache, making it show up with the message. This is the same scenario that happens with some of the free web page storage areas.
