Though I have never had the pleasure of seeing this token I can say I really like it a lot. Great design art work. With my experience I would lean towards this being made of .999 silver and not sterling .925. GDC mint made a lot of token over the years. I would be hard pressed to find one made of sterling from them.
Would I like it to be part of my casino silver collection, a resounding, YES. I can buy or trade.
Side note, you mention taking it to your local coin shop. That is fine. But only if they use either the x-ray machine or x-ray gun to read the contents. Do not allow then to to the old scratch and acid test. Generally this is done on the rim but still can most likely damage the token.
