The plastic injection version of the Diamond mold has been around longer than some people may think.

At least one version of it is listed in Howard Herz's 1985 guide to Gaming Checks and Chips. (Sorry for the photo being rotated, but see the bottom corner of the image below.) So it dates at least to the early 1980s.
